COMPUTER SCIENCE II
GRADE LEVEL: 5-7
INSTRUCTOR: Ken Aspeslagh
Designed for students who've taken Intro to Computer Science, Computer Science II explores new and exciting CS topics in depth.
We've found that after finishing Intro to CS, students are always asking for more knowledge. CS II focuses on topics ranging from the internet to micro-controllers, and will quickly grab their interest.
This season's topic:
We use the internet every day. In fact, we depend on it. From a simple Google search, to streaming videos and music, to multiplayer gaming. Yet most people have no idea how it works!
In this 6 week class we will learn what the internet really is and how it really works. More questions we'll answer:
• What is a server, and how can we make our own?
• How do passwords keep internet data secure and what is encryption?
• How do "hackers" break into computers?
• How do websites really work?
• What is the Internet of Things?
Create a website! DDOS a server! Crack a password!
Pre-requisite: Intro to Computer Science
Classes are limited to 8 students.
