COMPUTER SCIENCE II
GRADE LEVEL: 5 & UP
INSTRUCTOR: Ken Aspeslagh
Designed for students who've taken Intro to Computer Science, Computer Science II explores new and exciting CS topics in depth.
We've found that after finishing Intro to CS, students are always asking for more knowledge. CS II focuses on topics ranging from coding, to the internet, to micro-controllers and will quickly grab their interest.
This season's topic:
The COMPUTER SCIENCE OF SOUND
Technology has radically changed the way we experience and create sound. This class takes a deep dive into how computers store and transmit digital audio.
In this fun 6 week class, we’ll:
Experiment with sound transducers to learn how they work, and how computers convert sound waves into digital audio.
Create sounds effects by building digital circuits, and our own homemade speakers.
Learn how software compresses digital audio for transmission and streaming over the internet.
Write code to analyze sounds, recognize frequencies, and create music.
Pre-requisite: Intro to Computer Science
Class is limited to 8 students.
