Code & Circuit COVID Policy

Updated 7/31/2020

During the Covid pandemic, for the health and well-being of both our students and instructors, Code & Circuit will be following public health guidelines (CDC recommendations, Schools for Health Report-Harvard TC Chan School of Public Health recommendations). The listed practices may be modified over time as additional information and resources become available.

Please note that while we are endeavoring to provide a safe, healthy classroom experience for our students and instructors, Code & Circuit cannot guarantee a risk-free classroom.

Safe Practices for a Healthy Classroom

  • Anyone who feels feverish, or who has a temperature of 100.4 or higher, develops a cough or other Covid-19 symptoms, has had close contact with a Covid positive individual within the last 14 days before a class, or has another illness (allergies exempted), may not attend/teach class. Code & Circuit must be notified of the illness and symptoms so that all others may be informed as appropriate while maintaining confidentiality.

  • For any student who develops symptoms of illness while at Code & Circuit, the parent/guardian will be asked to immediately pickup that student.

  • Should any student, or instructor, test positive for Covid-19 during their time attending/ teaching a session, subsequent in-person classes will immediately be cancelled. Sessions may be moved on line, rescheduled for a later time, or a credit will be issued for future use.

  • Should a student or instructor test positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of the last class attended at Code & Circuit, Code & Circuit must be notified so that all others may be informed as appropriate while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Everyone will be required to wear a mask while in the classroom. At this time, there is no alternative option to wearing a mask in the classroom.

  • Students will be spaced 6 feet apart in the classroom with classes strictly limited to 6 students for younger students (K-2) and 8 students for those in grades 3 and up.

  • Hand washing, or hand sanitizer will be required upon entering the classroom and, as needed, thereafter.

  • Students will be assigned their own iPad or laptop to use.

  • Any shared equipment will be disinfected in between users.

  • All equipment and surfaces will be disinfected at the end of each class.

  • Students are to be dropped off and picked up in the courtyard in front of the building - 36 Main Street.

  • No food or drink is permitted in the classroom. Students will need to supply their own water.

  • Windows will be kept open to the extent possible given the outside temperature and humidity conditions to enhance air circulation.

  • Bathroom hygiene: Masks must be worn to use the bathroom. Students will wash hands for 20 seconds with soap after use. A paper towel should be used to turn the water off and open the door. Precautionary hand sanitizer will be used on classroom reentry.

Summer program only:

A 1 hour lunch & mask break will take place outside the classroom. In the event of rain, please dress your child appropriately to spend time outdoors.
